Interesting post- because this had to do with a possible melt down of
certain financial systems.
So, the question appears to be whether or not, if the hard systems don't
collapse (nuclear war heads, power plants and gas pumps, what is the
cosequence of a financial system melt down? If, as Bruce Sterling
suggests, in his short story, we are just 1's and 0's in the banker's
microchips then we have problems whether or not y2k is approaching.
Perhaps we need to look beyond y2k and maybe hope for a fiscal metl
down- so what if my VISA card doesn't work? what then? Maybe Kissinger
is right- maybe we should close our accounts of bits and bytes and turn
it into gold and sliver? Or maybe flour and water and dried foodstuffs?
thoughts?
