Kiyomi Ishizaki:

In USA September 11th a lot of people lost their lives in the terrible terrorist attacks.

Nobody expected such a tragedy.

These terrorists seem to come from Afghanistan and their boss is bin Laden. These terrorists hijacked four planes of United Airlines. Two out of the four planes hit the World Trade Center(WTC) ,so WTC's two tall buildings collapsed and many innocent workers died. One of the other planes hit the Pentagon. The other crashed.

Bin Laden is a terrible person because he commanded terrorists and killed a lot of people, so USA asked the taliban to hand bin Laddin over to them, but the Taliban rejected the demand and now he hides somewhere lest USA military find him. The American president George Bush, therefore , began to retaliate against Afghanistan in order to find bin Laden.

USA may well revenge on Afghanistan! But I think that president Bush should not have got revenge on Afghanistan because American mistaken attacks killed many citizen in Afghanistan. It is not too much say that the vindictive acts are same as terrors and some countries can be attacked by terrorists.

USA should have chosen another way. For example President should have chosen one way by argument, and I think that this was the best way to settle for indemnity. It sounds coward, but nobody die and injured. I didn't want USA to attack on Afghanistan just only for their nationality and their feeling. No matter how they were exasperated. They shouldn't have chosen a war.

Now this bad issue affect tourism, economy and some airlines and so on.. I mean all over the world tense for this issue. I hope to solve this problem immediately and come world peace.

Shinichi Ishimoto: Repeat or ...

Now, we can live without fear of war. We can eat anything and live in luxury. But, there are many tragedies in the world. There are many refugees. They have no food even for today. How can people all over the world live peacefully?

Bin Ladin and The Taliban are really bad? Yes, I think they are really bad! Bin Ladin killed citizens in the USA by using his terrorist attacks and The Taliban help him to live in Afganistan, The USA wants The Taliban to hand over Ladin, but they refuse. Of course terrorist attacks is very bad, but what makes them so? I can't understand, but I think they have more or less reason...

Japan should not do anything to Afaganistan. If Japan does halfway measures, America will criticize Japan for it like in the Gulf War and Islamic countries will regard Japan as America. I heard Taliban doesn't know about Japan and they don't know that Japan has no army. So, some terrorist attack will occur in Japan. Japan can't support USA without changing law, so many Japanese worry about it, because The Japan Self-Defense Forces go to Afganistan, The Japan Self-Defense Forces change to army and it means we'll have war. We never want to make war.

America should watch the background of terrorst atacks more carefully. Without it, terrorist attack will occur again and again. In the Middle East, there are many sad stories repeated. A long time ago, England told Jewish people `We'll support you to make your country in the Middle East.` England told to the great powers country like France and Rosia `We'll divide Middle East after war`. England told Arab like that way too. This is England's triple tongue. After war, there were many trouble in the Middle East. The State of Israel appeared and Afrabs were ousted from there. It makes rage against Jewish people and England, Arabs did terrorist attacks and Israel did too. Like this, there were many big problems in history. If your family was killed by torrorist, what will you do? How many people endure it? Will nobady be terrorist?

We have to watch more and more about history and we have to find out solution little by little. To make peace in The Middle East, we have to avoid any kind of war in there, we have to stop repeating tragedy there! War makes new war and more tragdy. For peace and happiness, we must talk and understand each other even an enemy!

Wataru Ito: Way of Solution

Bin Ladin said "God make the U.S dying"

Very scary attacks occured in New York. Many people were killed by these attacks with airplanes. Recently some people started to believe that only battle isn`t a solution. Now people hope to solve it by other ways. I have some solutions.

At firstly the U.S should attack terrorism thoroughly, that is to say to prevent their revenge.

Secondly, if the U.S catch or kill Bin Ladin, soon The U.S should withdraw from Afghanistan before to make new ploblem.

Thirdly, The U.S leave battle to against Taliban. But, This way isn`t good, because world will criticize the U.S. Above all, after the war is most important. all countries should make systems which doing terrorism is difficult, and care for people who the war wounded.

Conclusion, the U.S should attack terrorism quickly, and the U.S must think after the war.

Atsuko Iida: Terrorist attacks

On September 11th 2001, there were terrorist attacks in America. 4 airplanes were high jacked; 2 rammed into the World Trade Center, 1 rammed into the Pentagon and 1 crashed into Pittsburgh. I watched it on TV and I think it was like one scene of a movie.

Firstly, terrorist attacks made not only Americans but also people all over the world shocked. It suddenly happened. After terrorist attacks, the World Trade Center collapsed and many people were submerged under rubble even now, and so were many rescuers.

Secondly, bin Laden is a coward because he obeys his tools for terrorism. He is a leader of Taliban and he's hiding somewhere in Afghanistan now. I think he shouldn't hide anymore because if he appears, America would stop aerial bombing of Afghanistan.

Thirdly, America should not take revenge on Afghanistan just because of the terrorist attacks. There are many refugees in Afghanistan, so if America bombs at random, people who have nothing to do with terrorists will be killed. If America wants to get revenge, they should use another way, not by arms.

Anyway, terrorist attacks were meaningless because it is no benefits to do terrorist attacks. It's only hurt people all over the world. I hope terrorist attacks will disappear, and America should stop aerial bombing Afghanistan right now.

Mai Akita:

The air campaign is going on in Afghanistan. But all they did was to hit the wrong target. Many civilians have fallen victims to the air campaign already. Despite the situation, president Bush has not found Bin Ladin yet. What is more, Anthrax is spreading quickly. Now America is having a hard time, but still believe it is possible to make terrorists surrender by force.

It is the worst way to solve a problem like terrorism through war. The war will make new terrorists holding malice against the U.S and new sorrow. Although we Japanese should have mediated between America and Afghanistan, the Diet passed anti-terrorism legislation that could send Japanese soldiers, sailors and airman overseas during active hostilities.

We may not be able to understand the mentality of the core group of terrorists who plotted and carried out the attacks, but there are many people around the world who support their cause. These supporters are usually peaceful individuals who work and make a living just like us. We must try to understand the feelings of these people, and why they are so angry at the United states. America is not always right.

Sachiko Enseki: About Terrorism

When the attack broke out, I was in Canada . I was always watching the news about the attack. At first, I did not know what happened to America. I thought it was a sort of movie, but I came to realize that it was not a movie but a true event after I listened to the news carefully. I flew into a fury at the terrorists. They killed a great number of innocent people.

I had a homestay in Canada and had a Chinese romemate. Her name is Cindy. When we talked about the attack, she said to me, "Chinese do not like Americans. I think the attack is good." I did not understand why she said a thing like that. I was very suprised and confused and fully realized the difference of the way of thinking and moral values between Japanese and Chinese. Maybe, I think this was caused by the past incident which America brought to China, but I do not know what it is. But I have a good relationship with her.

There are refugees in Afghanistan, of course , they are innocent. It is not necessary to kill them. They are in the middle of starving to death. I want America not to kill them. I hope fore world peace. I think America should find peaceful solutions.

Minako Imasaka: DON'T FORGET ANTIWAR IS HIGH IDEAL

There is the most sorrowful courage in the world. "I'm not afraid of dying", said one Afghanistan boy who is engaged in Taliban Army. I don't believe there are any heroes in wars, because I can't call the person who kills the people under plausible reason as hero.

I oppose to the American's revenge strike on Afghanistan. Striking Afghanistan can't be the right way to end the terrorism because it seems to me striking Afghanistan is not an effective way. We can't see when the war over because taking revenge just makes more people like bin Ladin who think using violence is natural to push claim as a result of the absurd plight for them. In my opinion, international society should give aid to Afghanistan people, especially for education. I think education is important for overcoming poverty and stability of the world.

Next, I think Japan is just dragged into this war because Japan is afraid of isolation from international society and losing close relationship with the U.S., but Japan should awaken to the fact that internationalism doesn't means Americanism. Some Japanese people have an opinion like that antiwar opinions are pipe dream said by people who live in peace and can not feel the crisis, but I'd like to say even antiwar seems pipe dream it is much better than to accept killing because it happens in somewhere far from oneself. No one has the rights to take away the peace from others. I think the supporters of the war just think an immediate profit, not think the effect of the war. Actually, I canft deny that we have to use military power to suppress the revolt of Taliban to the world, but we have to emphasize on reaching out to the refugees, not harm them.

Finally, I'd like to say it is time for Japan to rethink its position in the international society. Japan has been the biggest creditor of ODA and it helps the developing countries to grow economically. I believe Japan can contribute to the world by helping people in danger, because Japan know how misery war is from WW2.

Yasuko Ueda:

Did you watch the one scene on TV, in which the plane struck the buildings? Could you believe it? It is not a shot from a movie but the actual world.

On September 11 -just over one month ago- two planes attacked the buildings that were located in New York. It was a terror attack against the United States of America. I watched the terror on TV that very day. At first, I thought that it was a part of a movie. I couldn't believe it at all. But it was the real thing. Many many people died in the terrible terror.

It is bad to appeal to arms. Violence leads only to violence. In fact, America attacked Afghanistan recently. I think that it is to repeat war that happened in the past. We should have learned what wars bring us at school. It is wrong to repeat wars as war killed many people. There always remains just sorrow and fury. I think that war produces nothing but sadness and anger. By this war, international relationships became worse. Because there are credibility gaps against one another. I think one country can't come to believe other countries. Lots of problems come to the surface. For example, we need a lot of money to continue the wars and we destroy the global environment.

I think war causes nothing but sorrow and fury, so I want America to solve this big problem peacefully not by using their arms. I hope there will be no war in this world soon.

Yoshie Itakura: Terrorist Attack

I think Osama bin Laden must be caught.

One reason in because they destroyed the World Trade Centre (W.T.C.) and caused many people to die, people on planes which attacked buildings and people in and around the buildings.

Another reason is because by terrorist attack on the W.T.C., he damaged the whole world.

Therefore I think attacking the terrorists base was unavoidable. By the attack, terrorists cannot come back to their bases and it will help to find them more easily.

By each countries cooperation, I hope Osama bin Laden will be caught soon.

Yoshino Abe: Both United States and bin Laden are wrong

President Bush started an act of retaliation and he said that it is the right thing to do but I think it is the same thing as the terrorists. I think bin Laden and the United States are both wrong.

First, bin Laden said that United States has distressed people in some poor countries but he also has distressed people with his terrorist organization. Actually, they suffer from hunger. Besides his organization has caused some terrorism around the world and killed lot of innocent people. Then terrorism is cowardly and bad.

Next, the United States has done whatever it likes against the world and never tried to understand why people in the Middle East hate them. I think the terrorism is retaliation. Now the United States has attacked Afghanistan and killed innocent people there, so it is no better than a terrorist.

Finally, both of them don't try to have negotiations and give theirselves preference without thinking about others. Moreover they don't think what they have done all this time. Then they attack the people in their country who are not the mainstay of society and government.

After all we understand both sides and we can't say which is right or wrong. But we can say that the violence never brings peace only unhappiness. The United States should stop their attacks. The United Nations has to deal with this problem and bin Laden should be judged at an international court.

Mayumi Imura: Is this any way to start war?

A month ago, I was shocked to see the attack on America on TV. And in some programs, I could see some people waving their hands to appeal for help

But I don't want to think this is war to kill many people and the war would spread out among countries connected with America.

We have to look back at our past history and realize how hard to stop war is once it has started in the world. We would get nothing peaceful, just terrible memories in our lives.

In my opinion, America took a negative way heading to a non-peaceful goal. What is expected about the people involved in the war is wounds in a mental and physical meaning, such as some people are hard to come back their jobs or others still look for their family under the rubble. Not only will the war hurt some people, it will also destroy nature, even the earth.

Now what we have to do is think more deeply of what's supposed to be done in the next stage. And we would have to think two side's places to find what is right and wrong. All people have responsibility for keeping the world safe even after the war is over.

Tsuyoshi Ushihara: Terrible Terrorism

The terrorists attacks (hijack and plane crashes) must have made a lot of people feel afraid. I felt sad too because many innocent died in the terrorists attacks.

Terrorists attacks toward America have the fear of the war I think. The revenge of America has the possibility of killing many innocent people.

I can't imagine the war and I hate to imagine.

If bin Laden is the leader of terrorists, I want him not to fight and to start the war. I hope this problem will be solved soon and I hope the world and all people can have a peaceful life.

Noriko Imoda:

When I first saw the incident on TV, where two planes crashed into The World Trade center, I wondered if it happened in the movies because it was too powerful to believe that it was in this world. After a while, mass media told us it was caused by terrorism.

I got angry when I heard about 5000 people included firemen and police officers that tried to help people died. The terrorists also have anger for America because Muslims in Afghanistan suffered persecution when the Gulf war was happened. I'm sorry for Muslims, and I think America tends to insist on power and rights. America is a country that wants to have big power in all over the world, so I understand Muslims anger a little.

However, terrorism is absolutely bad even though they can't stand it more. To control people by violence or force is not to resolve the problem. I think it's a problem between religions. They might not be able to understand each other it, but terrorism is absolutely.

Naoki Kuwada: World Reaction to Terrorist Attacks

Prime Minister Koizumi said "We support America strongly" Now serious problems have happened between America and Taliban. Maybe many counties (England, France, Russia, Japan...) will join this. There are a few reasons for this. One of them is that these counties enter into an alliance with America.

Many people were caught under a lot of fallen buildings, because a few airplanes hijacked by terrorists hit two the World Trade Center buildings. Some Japanese suffered in. And some are still missing.

A lot of citizens in America couldn't use airplanes for a while, because of the precaution against terrorism. And Japanese airlines also stopped for a while. In an airport, passenger's belongings are checked severely. The police tightened the guard around the American embassy in Japan, too.

Now America is taking revenge on the Taliban. But the action will only leave the scars of the battle between both countries. I think what is needed for both countries is a negotiating table. Taking advantage of this terrorism, we could learn something about one's way of thinking. It is important to receive a difference of religion. It is also important to receive a difference of race.

Yuuichi Emoto: America made a big mistake

America made a big mistake. The reason why is that grief would lead to a new grief.

Formerly, America suffered as a colony at once, then a lot of people died to become independent and to get freedom. As a result, the U.S. grew up into the present great nation and became a leader in the world.

But, the great nation loses her composure. In spite of what she suffered from forces of other nations long ago, she torments a country now. Many Afghans are innocent and just live in Afghanistan. The wicked are only terrorists who live in Afghanistan.

So I think the revenge is wrong because the innocent people are suffered by the revenge. Therefore I strongly oppose the revenge. And also I think there are other way against Bin Laden.

Yasuki Uno: The Worst Tragedy in the 21st century!

If World War 3 broke out, what would you do?

The situation has begun to take a turn for the worse and our lives are threatened.

In fact I can understand the feeling of Osama bin Laden, because the actions the U.S. has done are bad and have been criticised, and terrorism is a heroic deed for the people who support the Taliban.. This is a really sad fact for all the people.

But terrorism must not be allowed, because a lot of innocent citizens are killed indiscriminately and it is only sadness and anger that are left.

That's why I can"t agree with the retaliation of the U.S. Retaliation creates more retalitation and people have to live by fearing it. There is no profits to either country, so the two countries have to have a talk and compromise with each other and the Taliban have to hand over bin Laden as soon as possible.

We can't find a key to the settlement of this incident as long as U.S. continues to resort to military force.

Kenji Ando: Bin Laden's Atack

Bin Laden's terrorism brought war from peace in America. It is the first war of the 21st century. In september, Laden's terrorists attacked New York and many people died in this.

He and his terrorists are very dangerous for mostly countries, certainly Japan. We have to be careful of terrorism by Laden now.

Secondly, I can't understand their religious beliefs. I think that they have another culture, so there is a very different country from Japan and State.

Finally, U.S is strong and violent countly for most countries, because they always justify everything.

In my concludion, in a quarrel fight, both parties are to blame. And this time's news has deep political problem for each other.

Kimiko Ishii: Terrorism

Big sad attacks happened by terrorists in America. Because of the atacks, there were many victims.

bin Laden should show himself in public to discuss the reason why he attacked America and reach a solution directly with America, Pakistan, Afghanistan and countries all over the world, even though he may be killed. It is said that bin Laden and the Taliban do not like America, because of the behavior towards the Taliban. America should know why America was disliked by the Taliban. I think it leads to the way to a solution.

Terrorism should not be allowed. In this terrorist attack many people died in New York, air planes and the Pentagon. We must not repeat such atrocious terrorism.

I know American feelings that they attack the Taliban, but America should not attack civilians. Most of them are poor and because of the American attacks, they are anxious about their lives. We do not want any more victims.

Through this terrorism I considered war was bad afresh. Nobody was happy by war. I hope that this problem is solved early. I hope for world peace.

Kaori Asano: Terrorism

On September 11, the most remarkable event in the world happened. The terrorists attacked the World Trade Center in America, and many people were killed, so America began to attack the Taliban in order to get revenge on bin Ladin. This happened in America, but we should consider it as our own problem.

First, terrorism is evil, as well as war. Both kill many people and engender many tragedies. Terrorists are kinds of heroes for people who support terrorists or themselves, but they are just murderers for many people. If they were heroes, they would not use guns and bombs. I think they only want to show their power, so it's childish. If they want America to understand what they want, they should act openly instead of sneaking. Of course, also America have to accept them properly.

Second, I can partly understand American's emotions, but the action of America getting revenge on bin Ladin is wrong. Even though America attacks the Taliban, that is a not solution. They do just same things as the terrorists. Then people repeat the mistake, so terrorism will never disappear from the world. Before attacking, America should consider this calmly. Otherwise America can be terrorist.

Thirdly, terrorism damaged not only America but also the American economy. Some companies, especially airline companies, went bankrupt or laid off employees because of terrorism, so many people got lost their jobs. The American government only turns their effort to attack the Taliban, but in my opinion, it seems that the American government diidn't consider this issue so much. I believe that resolving this issue is more necessary than attacking the Taliban. This issue is very difficult to resolve, but I hope this issue will resolve soon.

Now, Japan is a peaceful land, but terrorism may happen suddenly, so we have to be concerned with it. Then my best wish is that this war ends Amerikca talks with the terrorists. I hope New York recovers to be what it was.
