We have received news of the succesful resolution of the Grand Boulevard Hotel strike in the Philippines through the KMU publication "Correspondence".

On 31 March 1999, after one year on the picket line, striking workers at the Grang Boulevard Hotel finally won their demands.

The strike started on 4 March 1998 because of the arbitrary sacking of 98 workers. The workers went on strike and established a picket.

The picketing workers were repeatedly violently attacked by security guards, but they held on and maintained their demands.

The settlement of the dispute includes the reinstatement of 115 sacked workers, with no retaliation against them and the resumption of the Collective Bairgaining Agreement.

The KMU thanks people and organisations who sent messages of solidarity during this hard dispute.
