Job Offering - Technical Support
IGC, the preeminant on-line service for activists and non-profits,
seeks full-time employees to join our growing technical support
team. Technical support staff troubleshoot problems via phone and
email, develop support documentation and web pages, and work with
technical staff on research and development.
Qualified candidates will have a range of computer experience,
including most of the following skills listed below. As well,
s/he will show a demonstrated commitment to IGC's community and goals, and
eagerness to learn on the job.
* experience with telecommunications, modem dial-up, SLIP and PPP
* familiarity with the Internet, including WWW and Gopher
* working knowledge of Unix
* thorough understanding of Mac and/or PC operating systems
* excellent verbal and written communication skills
* ability to work calmly in a hectic work environment
* friendly and patient phone manner
Who we are:
The Institute for Global Communications is a full service
Internet provider. We operate five computer networks (PeaceNet,
EcoNet, ConflictNet, LaborNet, and WomensNet), serving over
11,500 subscribers nationally. The IGC Networks are committed to
serving individuals and organizations working toward peace,
social justice, human rights, conflict resolution, environmental
sustainability, women's empowerment, and the equitable treatment
of workers.
Schedule is full time, somewhat flexible, some early morning and
weekend hours may be required.
Salary range: $22,500 to $27,000 plus health benefits. 3 weeks vacation
annually.
