Dear Colleagues,

I would like to take the opportunity to share with you our new paper "Who's
Minding the Store? Legislator Oversight of the Bretton Woods Institutions".

To explore the extent of the global democratic deficit with respect to the Bretton Woods institutions, Halifax Initiative (Canada), with the assistance of Agir ici (France) and Campagna per la riforma della Banca mondiale (Italy), conducted a written survey of World Bank and International Monetary Fund Executive Directors and Alternate Executive Directors of seventeen industrialized countries. The purpose of the survey was to determine how each official is accountable to legislators and to what extent national legislatures maintain democratic oversight of the institutions.
Below is a link to the paper and a short Executive Summary & Recommendations piece.
I invite you to circulate the paper within your networks and share any comments you may have on the paper with me.
Sincerely,
Robin Round,
Policy Analyst, Halifax Initiative
