‚U|i‚VjComments of Arup Rahee to Robin Round Papers the IBRD and ADB |
April 2005 Arup Rahee Thanks to Shalmali Guttal and Robin Broad for their excellent draft. I see no major point do differ with. rather, I support broadly all the points raised and proposed. What our impression comes from our campaigns in Bangladesh and peoples response to our campaigns is that, we should take the proposals (e.g. shrink IFIs and democratize global financial institutions and systems) as popular strategies. It is important to select popular and mass based strategies to win social changes. At the same time we have to work with and for peoplefs alternatives for national, regional and global development. And the IFIs/IFTIs must be guided by these visions and strategies set by the peoples, their representatives and movements. In that case social movements have a responsibility to make the alternatives visions clearer and go for maximum possible level of praxis of these. It might be diverse but at the same time have solidarity, convergence and unity for the making of a better and farer world possible. Hope we will get further opportunities for sharing . Hope to work more together. In solidarity, Arup Rahee |
