Nissho Iwai Unit Enters Oil Drilling Business with BP Unit

TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Nissho Iwai Corp's wholly owned subsidiary N-I Energy
Development Inc said it and BP Amoco PLC's subsidiary BP Exploration (Alaska)
Inc have signed an agreement for oil drilling business in Alaska.

The companies will start drilling in Alaska from next summer, Nissho Iwai
said in a statement, partly confirming an earlier Nihon Keizai Shimbun
report.

The paper earlier said Nissho Iwai's first order is from a BP Amoco
subsidiary and is worth about 2 bln yen, adding that it aims to win an
annual 10 bln yen in orders within five years.
