Annual celebration commemorating the UN Migrants' Convention 6th International Migrants Day in Tokyo The International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families which was originally adopted on December 18, 1990 by the United Nations finally entered into force as of July 1, this year. Since the United Nations officially declared December 18th as International Migrants Day, SMJ and NGOs from all over the world have worked for the ratification of this convention. This year at the gathering in Tokyo, each migrant worker group will bring the problems that they currently face and share them with the larger group. We will also discuss what we think would happen if Japan would ever ratify the Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.
