J-CRAM is one of the commissions under Japan Catholic Bishops' Conference.
Each of the 16 domestic dioceses has staff to connect the diocese with
international and national catholic organizations. The Commission aims
at working to create a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural society according to
the Evangils where everyone is equal as a God's child and his basic human
rightrs are respected, and lives together with others as brothers and sisters.
Actually we work for the benefit of refugees, migrants and people on the
move as is known from our name. We are extending support for asylum seekers
staying in Japan while we are discussing what we can do for migrants living
in Japan. We are conducting a questionaire based investigation into children
of foreign nationalities who do not go to school. For people on the move,
we maily visit sailors. Let's create a multi-ethnic, multi-natinality and
multi-cultural society. “The more different we are from each other, the
richer lives we are able to enjoy” (from a catch copy for the Day of Refugees,
Migrants and People on the Move 2002). |

It is very hard to be attacked by a labor accident or occupation caused sickness or injury. You will be damaged not only physically but also by unfair treatment given by the employer. The center provides you with a shelter, and we started in the late 1980s to give counseling services for foreign workers. We also make negotiations with administration when so necessary. |
