Japan Chernobyl Foundation (JCF) is a Japanese Non-Governmental Organization. We have cooperated with Shinshu University School of Medicine and other medical workers supported the Gomel regional hospital and other hospitals in Belarus for the treatment leukemia and cancer patients after the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident since 1991.OUTLINE of JCF (2000.1.1.)
Established: January 1991Purpose: Medical support for Chernobyl
(Achievement)
- Medical survey of thyroid cancer for the children in the area contaminated by the Chernobyl accident.
- Medical analysis of blood about activity of NK (Natural Killer) cell among the population received in-corporated radiation.
- Supply the necessary medical appliances and medicine at Gomel regional hospital and Chechersk district hospital.
- Doctors and medical workers of Shinshu University hospital and so on cooperate with doctors and medical workers in Belarus for the leukemia treatment (ex. auto-PBSCT; Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplantation).
- Send 52 delegations of doctors and nurses and so on for 9 years.
- Invite doctors and so on from Belarus, and traning a new medical treatment.
- Culture exchange between Japan and Belarus.
