Year 2000 nightmares
my biggest fear is that my internet access will *poof* go up in smoke
come jan 1 (massive power outages, downed phone lines, looting, chaos,
martial law) and I will have forgotten how to deal with real, live
people, solve real life problems, make change or carry on intriguing
or at least funny conversations.
Im afraid that I'll have to depend upon my neighbors for safety and
survival, and I don't even know their names. Im afraid that Ill have
to resort to manual labor to survive and Im so out of shape from
sitting in front of this screen...my connection to the world....my
livelihood.... I might get sick and not be able to get help. I might
find myself without marketable skills. But, it could be a great way
to lose the 20+ pounds I wish I didn't have...and then I won't have to
buy a bigger chair.
Worst fear: this list will disappear. what happens if Y2k comes and
goes and nothing shatters our cozy little world? What if the only
people really affected are the members of this group, all of whom will
suddenly have to find something else to talk about? Should we start a
discussion group to seek out, identify, then debate to death the next
doomsday?
