Saturday 16th March 4:00 AM, CSW45 adopted a number of
resolutions and an agreed conclusion on racism and gender and
decided to resume its session in early May. Dates are to be
decided not to collide with other conferences the commission
members have to attend. Governments are to send in their
written comments to the Secretariat by 2nd April as input for
the items to be discussed in resumed session of CSW45.

The Infomal working group on HIV/AIDS was requested by the
chair to try to conclude its discussion on the agreed document
this morning under the leadership of the facilitator. However,
it was subsquently decided in the resumed Informal that it
will also resume its discussion during the resumed CSW45.

The Infomal working group on Racism and Gender concluded its
discussion at 3:23 AM Saturday after agreeing on a "package
deal" tabled by the chair involving three paragraphs proposed
by the G77. i.e. Sentence after Para.3, Para.9, Placement
after 6 of the 16/03/2001 11:10 PM draft.

Recording of vote was requested for two resolutions on
Palestine (L2) and release of women in armed conflict (L3).
United States explained that their abstention to L3 was due to
lack of minor change required to comply with relevant
International Convention. Sweden noted that the US's proposal
came in too late in time to be reflected in the draft
resolution.

Resumed session of the Commission on the Status of Women
**
The Commission on the Status of Women decides to meet in
resumed session from 9 to 11 May 2001, subject to availability
of services and the approval of the Committee on Conferences,
in order to complete the work of its forty-fifth session.

Enhancing the effectiveness of the working methods of the
Commission on the Status of Women
**
The forty-fifth session of the Commission on the Status of
Women decides, in accordance with ECOSOC resolution 1998/46,
in particular Annex II, to request its Bureau to undertake,
with the assistance of the Secretariat, the preparatory work
necessary for a further discussions of the working methods of
the Commission at its forty-sixth session, building on the
discussions that were held during its forty-fifth session, and
requests that adequate time be allocated to discussion of
this matter during the forty-sixth session of the Commission.

Report of the Secretary-General assessing the implication of
reforms of mechanisms in the human rights area (1503 procedure)
for communications concerning the status of women
**
The Commission on the Status of Women having considered the
Report of the Secretary-General submitted to its forty-fifth
session assessing the implication of reforms of mechanisms in
the human rights area for communications concerning the status
 of women (E/CN.6/2001/12), and the views expressed in this
regard by Member States, decides to request another Report of
the Secretary-General on the communications procedure of the
Commission on the Status of Women and ways and means to make
it more effective and efficient, based on, inter alia, written
opinions of Member States and taking into account discussions
at the forty-fifth session of the Commission on the Status of
Women. The comprehensive report, which may contain recommendations,
should be submitted to Members States in a timely manner
prior to the forty-sixth session of the Commission on the
Commission on the Status of Women for consideration at this
session.
